Have you ever been told something you enjoy isn’t healthy?

Hamburgers, french fries, dessert, and television come to mind. We know it’s unhealthy to overindulge on fatty foods and binge-watch TV shows. We know this because it makes us sick. But denying ourselves things we enjoy in life can be unhealthy too.

So, how do we strike a balance?

The real question you may be asking: Is it possible to enjoy a healthy life AND indulge from time to time? The answer is yes, and if you think about your life for a minute, you’ll realize that it’s actually quite simple.

Challenge yourself to cherish each moment.

Smaller bites, longer chews. What do we mean by that? Before each bite, and with each breath, take a moment to ask yourself: Am I enjoying this? Is this fulfilling a need? Is this making me feel alive? You may start to realize that when you have too much of a good thing, it doesn’t feel so good anymore. Variety is the spice of life. They call it the pursuit of happiness for a reason. It requires paying attention to and prioritizing the things that enable you to thrive.

And the trick is, the happier you are, the healthier you’ll be.
