How’d you hear about Pack Health, and what made you want to sign up?

I’m a University of Maryland employee, and an email was sent to my work email. I tend to skim through emails, but was drawn to actually read this email and thought, “Whoa, this is cool. I can get a Health Advisor that can help me with my pre-diabetes!” I immediately signed up right away. I stopped what I was doing and had no idea what to expect, but knew I’d want support on this journey to better health. You know that saying when you have to depend on yourself to do something, you’ll never do it, but if you have someone with you, you’re more likely to do it!

We’re so happy to have you! How has your experience been so far? How’s it been with Jennifer?

It’s been amazing. She reached out to me one day while I was at work to let me know she was going to be my Health Advisor and told me all about what we would be doing during our time together. I set up my call and the rest has been history. I’m very disciplined when I set my mind to something I do it, but having someone to hold my hand is so helpful. She asked me what my goals were and what I wanted out of this and I told her I just did not want to become diabetic. I had previously discovered that I was on the edge. She responded by saying, “we can do that”.

With her positivity and my positivity, we make a great team. We started talking every week and went over the materials I’d get in the mail! We talk every Friday at 10 a.m. I work from home on Fridays, so I planned my calls for then. I wanted to have no distractions. These calls are very important because I am very important. It’s time to make a commitment to yourself. It’s kind of personal now. She’s my friend. She’s my confidant. We talk, we set goals, she’s always motivating me and helps me to stay on track and keep my head up if I fall short. It’s almost like a mind, body, and soul kind of thing. It’s all of them in one!

I know it’s her job, but Jennifer has been unbelievable. I even spoke with her while I was on my vacation! That’s how you know it’s changed me. It wasn’t something I wanted to put off while I was taking time for myself.

How has Pack Health helped you change your lifestyle, and what keeps you motivated to change?

Pack Health has impacted my exercises and how I eat. Jennifer told me to write everything down and from that, I’m eating better, I’m drinking more water, and I’m overall taking better care of myself.

I have a cold, so I’m not feeling my best right now. But I’m thinking in my mind that if I don’t go to the gym today, I can make up the days later on in the week. It’s like I’m programmed now to get in those exercise minutes. That has changed my life! I’m motivated by the results and the changes I see in myself. My confidence has gone up, and I’m proud of myself now. I like that feeling so I want to keep feeling that way every single day. I want to keep feeling that accomplishment.

What advice would you give to someone looking to sign up for one of our programs?

My advice to them would be to ask yourself the question, “Are you worth it? Are you worth going through this to make your life better?” If the answer is yes, there should be no second-guessing. You’re investing in yourself. It comes down to how important you are to yourself. You just have to stop and prioritize yourself because it’s for you!

I was just talking to a girlfriend of mine yesterday about how she’s always doing things for everybody else. And that’s a wonderful thing, but now I know to prioritize myself while still helping everyone.

What’s been the biggest thing you’ve accomplished while working with Jennifer?

I’ve lost 13 pounds! I’ve changed my lifestyle when it comes to eating and drinking my water, so I’m conscious of what to buy at the grocery store. I read the labels. I’m a smarter shopper! And don’t get me wrong, I have my moments where I break down and “cheat” if you will. But when I told Jennifer that my birthday was last weekend, she reassured me that it was OK to go out and have a good time! I was more aware of what I was doing. It’s like when you’re trained to do something, you are always in that mindset. It’s just awesome. It has changed my whole thought process about everything! I share Pack Health with everyone I know! You just feel good! Who doesn’t want to feel good?!

What have you learned about yourself?

I can do anything I put my mind to. If I really want to do it, I can do it. My confidence has gone sky-high. I believe in myself, there are no doubts anymore. I just feel like I’m a champion now, just wow! I’m happy with myself now.
