How’d you hear about Pack Health and what made you want to sign up? 

I started working with UAB’s School of Dentistry and stumbled on the wellness plans they offer as an employee benefit specifically for eligible employees. I noticed that during one of my wellness screenings, my numbers were off. The older I got, the more I’ve struggled to lose weight. I ate healthily, but my blood pressure was borderline. When I figured that out, I began monitoring it daily because I have a family history of hypertension.

I’ve been a practicing endodontist for years, but at my office, there’s always a celebration for something, which makes it difficult to stick to a healthy eating regimen. In addition, I’ve experienced some hormonal changes, as I’m in my 50s.

I was thrilled when I discovered Pack Health. I immediately clicked on the link and got the ball rolling. Pack Health responded quickly, which means I didn’t have any time to second guess my decision. I got my pack in the mail and the rest is history!

We’re so happy to have you! How has your experience been so far? How’s it been with Larry?

Larry was so on top of touching base with me. He’d always make sure I’d received everything I needed and would keep up with how I was doing the entire time. At first, I was skeptical about the Healthy Plate. I thought, “there’s no way I can eat this much food and lose weight.” Larry would encourage me to try it. I lost 20 pounds and I could really feel it in my clothes and my energy levels! I didn’t even worry about the scale at that point, I just felt so great.

Larry would send me encouraging messages along the way and he continued to motivate me. If I ever felt like I couldn’t keep it up, it’s like he knew exactly when to check-in. He’d send me an encouraging note right out of the blue! When I was getting bored with what I was eating, Larry would send me more of the Pack Health recipes. Some of my favorites are the smoothies and breakfast burritos!

How has Pack Health helped you change your lifestyle and what keeps you motivated to change?

The Tiny Step method has been amazing. I would come up with a Tiny Step and stick to it each week. I moved offices, to the 6th floor of my building, and I’ve made it a Tiny Step to take the stairs and walk to get my lunch! My FitBit would help me track my steps as well. I ended up losing 2 pounds per week. Larry and I worked on so many helpful things including my sleeping habits, stressors, and where I found my support system during my journey to change my lifestyle.

What advice would you give to someone looking to sign up for one of our programs? 

In my opinion, it’s a win-win situation. You just have to take the first step! It’s not anything hard. I’ve done programs in the past and they’re all so restrictive. Pack Health allows you to eat and teaches you how to eat to keep going forward and living your healthy lifestyle. I was worried it would make me feel like the French women who nibble on tiny portions. People at work have started asking me what I’ve been doing to lose weight and feel better, and I’m thrilled to tell them about Pack Health!

What’s been the biggest thing you’ve accomplished while working with Larry?

I’ve completely changed my lifestyle. I made a mental change and with it, I now believe in myself. Larry restored the person I used to be!
