So we hit 65, and we start getting discounts. We might occasionally forget where we put things; we might not see as well without our glasses on; we might have to go to the doctor’s office a bit more often than we used to. We’re all still vibrant individuals with a range of needs and abilities: some of us are athletes, some of us like to dance. It might be easy to slip into less healthy habits- always has been, always will be – but that doesn’t mean we just transform into couch potatoes with each passing year, or that unhealthy habits are irreversible after a certain amount of time.

Getting and staying active is a worthwhile challenge at any age. It’s essential for our physical and mental health! Even if you’re not racing to the finish line in the senior Olympic games, there’s plenty you can do to get moving in your daily life. Here are our top 3 tips.

01 There’s so much you can do from the comfort of your own home.

If you’re feeling low on energy or out of your exercise groove, we recommend starting with chair exercises or even simple floor exercises with a stress band and stretch ball. You can also get some extra steps in by walking more around the house!

02 Take more steps.

Do you have a friend or family member you could meet for a stroll or a neighbor to join you for a nice walk around the block? #Protip: to beat the summer heat, be sure to stay hydrated and try walking indoors like at an air-conditioned mall.

03 Enjoy exercise as a covered benefit.
