How’d you hear about Pack Health and what made you want to sign up?

I am an MD Anderson breast cancer patient and I was approached by one of the nurses about a clinical trial that uses a health coach. It happened to be Pack Health and I went for it! I kept my fingers crossed and got a really great Health Advisor!

We’re so happy to have you! How has your experience been so far? How’s it been with Alison?

Working with Alison was wonderful. She was so organized and helped me stay on course the entire time. We chose one thing that we would work on each week. She made it so it wasn’t complicated. Even if I wasn’t able to complete everything on time, she was very understanding and helped me look on the bright side and helped me come up with strategies to reach the next week’s goal. I really appreciated her.

How has Pack Health helped you change your lifestyle and what keeps you motivated to change?

Alison was so helpful in providing me with healthy recipes. Her backing the recipes really helped too. She provided me with the magnet that I kept on my fridge to keep me on track. From a health aspect, what you eat really affects how you feel, and I really found that to be true. The recipes were very affordable and so delicious and healthy at the same time! I also found I could use her recipes to meal prep my meals for work, instead of going through fast food lines or spending way too much money at Starbucks. It really helped me save money and feel better.

During the time I worked with Alison, setting those Tiny Steps each week was a huge help. Each goal was attainable and I could reach them and wouldn’t get frustrated along the way.

Did you two set any specific Tiny Steps you’d like to share?

Meal prepping was a Tiny Step I tried. Planning just breakfast really helped me save money and stick to my healthy eating goals. One particular recipe I liked was the oatmeal recipe Alison shared!

Another one was focused on doing a specific exercise or stretch a couple of times per week or so many minutes, depending on what it was. I was able to work during the whole 6 months I was undergoing chemotherapy treatments, so I was primarily stretching. I also would walk some to keep myself moving every day.

What advice would you give to someone looking to sign up for one of our programs?

Definitely do it. It will be life-changing. Now that I’ve finished my chemo and I’ve had my surgery, I am really focused on healthy eating and taking care of myself to heal properly. I would definitely advise it! I wish I could’ve kept talking with her! I always try to encourage others because you never know who’s watching. I have several coworkers who are going through the same thing, so we’re able to motivate and encourage one another on our journeys.

What’s been the biggest thing you’ve accomplished while working with Alison?

I guess being able to go through my treatments and still maintain my job and still be able to take care of my family and try to maintain a “regular” life in the midst of it. I would’ve have been able to do any of those things without Alison’s support.
